Coping With Numbers
And going solo
Hello, friends! It’s been another weird/hard week, tho at least I got to spend time with a lot of good friends, old and new, to help me through it. Got to go to an Arsenal bar this past weekend, and went absolutely mental at our 2-2 comeback vs Chelsea while surrounded by other wonderful and surprisingly musical Gooners. Also went to see Killers Of The Flower Moon several days later, which was amazing and unnecessarily long (sorry, film nerds.) I get why Martin Scorsese made the choices he did but I am clearly not the target audience for this movie, and that’s fine.
I’ve been distracting myself as well with symphony rehearsals, travelling all over town to meet my fellow musicians for some excellent practice sessions. The maestro of my orchestra unexpectedly assigned me a solo in the middle of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Symphony #1 in D Major, so I’ve been working on that. If you’re interested in watching a free short lunchtime concert with reception and light refreshments to follow, we’ll be performing at the Levine School Of Music’s NW DC Campus on November 17th, at 1 p.m. All are welcome, so tell your friends!
While I haven’t been able to get as much reading done as I’d like this week, I did get a chance to work on Camp Elementa! I thought it would be my final edit, but I wound up adding a concentration rule and clarification on human vs elemental attributes, lol. I think I’m on track to finish up the digital files this weekend tho, which is really good news. I just have the page numbers, Table Of Contents and cross-references thereof to finalize, and we’re off to the races! (and the printers!)
Of the four books I did manage to read this week, I highly recommend Fabrice Erre and Sylvain Savoia’s Magical History Tour Vol 13: Marie Curie. Everyone thinks they know all there is about this famous scientist, but the kid-friendly biography provides a lot of illumination on the inspirational figure. I love every book in this series, and this was no exception.
Alright, I need to get back into reading a bunch more stuff ahead of my many looming deadlines. Hopefully, the next time we speak, Camp Elementa’s digital files will be fully released! See you in seven!
